The IWC Top Gun Miramar watch

This great new Pilot Watch from IWC is a tribute to Miramar, birthplace of the Top Gun mythology. We're pretty sure that Maverick, Ice Man or Goose would have been right at home with one of these great pieces. The dial is large enough to make a bold statement and the colour scheme really sets it off nicely. Well worth a look.

The LGB Christmas gift countdown day 12

Today is the last in our Christmas gift series and we really hope that you have taken some inspiration from our suggestions. We have decided somewhat a-typically not to feature something that can be bought in a last minute scrabble this morning, but rather something to look at as a gift post-Christmas. The Liquid Gold Baby Christmas Gift countdown

We love Christmas here at LGB. The sights, the smells, the sounds, the luxury. So our pre-New Year's Resolution is to bring to you our list of top gifts this holiday season. Over the next 12 days, we will be focusing on products that can give you the inspiration to do some last minute shopping, beginning today with 12 fantastic items. Whatever your taste, we're sure you'll find something perfect amongst these fantastic products…

1.We start off by bringing you some real eye-candy for the watch and clock fans among you. This classic desk clock from David Linley brings a simple elegance with three beautiful clocks featured in a walnut case. This would look fabulous on any desk.

2.This P6520 Heritage is an edgy number from Porsche Design and looks like a car tyre, perfectly representing this most revered of brands. The hidden compass inside is removable and will no doubt ensure that this model is high on the intrepid explorer's most wanted list this Christmas.

3.A fantastic silver Rolex is available from Fourtane. The "Panama Canal" model is a breath of fresh air and looks stunning and modern in this colour scheme. This is well worth investigating.

4.Next up we are happy to see that our favourite customisers the Bamford Watch Department have struck gold again with their gorgeous take on the Rolex Explorer II. It's just pure class and a proper mix of style and substance. This is something we expect to hear big things from, don't miss out.

5.Officine Panerai is offering a great looking analogue watch with classic brown colouring and soft edges. This is the watch equivalent of hot chocolate; smooth, luxuriant and comfortable. The easy to read dial make this perfect for those who prefer the less flashy options.

6.Meanwhile, HD3 Complication has come up with the Black Pearl- this extraordinary timepiece for those who want something a little out of the ordinary. It is based upon pirates and buccaneers and the design is really spectacular, with a sci-fi feel coupled with flashes of the past.

7.Our next entry is a stunning humidor containing 100 cigars. This is another item by Linley who always deliver top quality goods. The box itself is a model of the Partagas factory in Cuba which is so cool and recognizable, we love this box and if you know a cigar fan this will go down a treat.

8.Trek have ushered in what we at LGB think is the next big era in cycling- perfectly designed custom bikes. From a starting point of two basic model designs, the options swiftly open up allowing you to truly customise everything that goes on, in, or with your bike. This is not just a style exercise either, Project One gives you the opportunity of choosing all components and fitting which can lead to some seriously cool designs and riding perfection. If you're serious about cycling, then hop on over to their website, you won't be disappointed.

9.Also for petrol heads, the Yamaha VMax Concept Bike is a stunning new design in collaboration with Hermes. For a motorcycle, this is about as luxurious as it can possible get, with a brown leather upholstery counterbalancing the machinery, bringing a natural feel to an elegant design.

10. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Whilst this is not likely to help you rescue cats stuck in trees, the Jetlev is likely to make anybody feel like James Bond. If there is a must-have gift this year for adventurous souls, this, surely, is it. Q, eat your heart out.

11.Grey Area have some fantastic pieces for art lovers to investigate, particularly this amazing AK-47 picture by Dustin Yellin. If you’re looking for intriguing and beguiling works of art then this is a must-see.

12.Finally for today we recommend this gorgeous bag from one of LGB’s favourite’s, Bottega Veneta. It is a stunning pink laced with flecks of white and will look fantastic on the arm of the fashionista in the new year.

Be sure to check back with us tomorrow for our next 11 gift suggestions!

An Interview with DRx

1) If you had to drive only one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS

2) What's the most exciting thing you've blogged about this year?

Upcoming DRx watch project with George Bamford.

3) If you died and went to heaven, what outfit would you rock up in?

Khaki Anachronorm corduroys, Visvim FBT’s, RRL button up, my 1960’s G1 Flight jacket, Elder Statesman beanie, Parrabellum belt.

4) Tell us about your upcoming projects / collaborations - what's next for you this year?

DC Comics project titled DRx VELOCITY where the governments have lost the war against crime and DRx responds to the threat by designing a line of supercars, rigged with state-of-the-art weaponry and technology. The first issue is starring NASCARS Kasey Kahne and showcases the artwork of legendary Phil Frost. Dropping this summer.

A collection of DRx reconstructed Cowichins for Barneys Japan.

The adventures of DRx’s Beetle Bailey continues into the holiday season with a bunch of surprises in the pipe.

A Fraggle Rock music compilation featuring original music by a variety of artists inspired by the show.

5) What's your favourite iPhone app?

The Hipstamatic camera app.

6) You're renowned for mixing the best things from the past with the present - what first propelled you to do this?

Vintage. I’ve always been intrigued/inspired with vintage. Vintage being everything from childhood memories to classic gear. As much a I love and respect these throwback chapters in time, it sometimes can be a bit challenging to revisit them (rock them). The jeans don't fit right, the jackets have too much damage, the memories although intact seem a bit cloudy. I wanted to preserve these slices of history but flip them so they made sense for today's consumer, and myself of course.

7) What makes an amazing weekend? Where would you go, what would you do, and with whom?

I live in Los Angeles so getting outta here every so often helps to keep me grounded. My favorite weekends are spent in the mountains disconnecting from reality. Would probably say snowboarding at Mammoth Lakes CA and or Jackson Hole WY with a couple of buddies.

8) As a kid, what first did you want to be when you grew up?

A Director.

9) If you were stuck on a remote desert island with five celebrities from both the past and the present, who would they be?

Brigitte Bardot, Jim Morrison, James Dean, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Marilyn Monroe.

10) What's the worst popular fashion trend there's ever been?

Socks with sandals is a definite no.

Toy Watch Bambini

Every year when I pass the Toy Watch shop in Sardinia I think to myself, 'what can they possibly do next year?' Well, they couldn't have done much better than this.

Bambinos can get creative with the new online customiser where they can choose face colours, paint colours and much more. The actual watch comes with 5 different coloured bezels, 5 felt tips and a pad of watch paper templates so they can create their own personal watch.

This brings a whole new meaning to ones first watch! £85 from Toy Watch

Be Part of the Legacy

Jaeger-LeCoultre has done something amazing. You can now personalise your Reverso watch on their website.

This is what I am talking about. A brand believing in itself enough to be able to let people have their say, stamping their own individuality and what they would like on a product.

This is a step forward as well as backwards as Jaeger-LeCoultre have produced this watch since 1930 and have been engraving the back of the watch for the great and good of history.

It's now your chance to be apart of history with your own design of what you want on your Reverso.

On the Wrists

This is a funky Nato strap with a twist on conservative watch straps.

The Nato strap comes from the military; it's a utilitarian watch strap given a funky spin by the people from Steve & Co.

This reminds me of Swatch back in the day and how cool they where with their straps... The benefit of this one is that you can choose the exact watch you want to go with the funky strap.

Bulgari by Gerald Genta

This is the new Bulgari watch designed by the master of horologe, Gerald Genta. This beautiful watch is bringing Bulgari back to the watch world.

This Cal 7800 watch is an Octo Quadri-retro chronograph and is crafted in amazing ceramics and steel. The case is 45mm.

It is amazing to think that Gerald Genta was the man behind the original Bulgari watch, the iconic deign with the name on the outer rubber ring. Here he is again, bringing the Bulgari brand into a fresh, new arena, with LVMH now being boss.

The Bulgari is a sexy watch, I'm pleased they've utilised a master watch designer to create what is definitely going to be a must-have watch, putting this brand back on the map of the watch-world future.

HD3

HD3 is a watch brand that's been around for a while now, but they've just come up with a true jump forward in the world of watches. To best describe the HD3 it is the love-child of an Apple Nano and a Tag Heuer Monaco.

This is the best marriage between technology and horology. The HD3 has made the perfect balance between the two of them. HD3 Slyde is the name of this truly sexy watch, and you can choose how you want your dial to be -like an app you can downloaded it to your great looking tech watch.

This watch is a true look into the future, and what the watch world really needs. HD3 a company that has up to now, been looking for their place in the watch world. The creation of this perfect watch really cements their place in the world of watches.

The HD3 slyde is a watch that is definitely going to be the next big thing. You will soon see this company popping up all over the globe.

An Interview with Josh Spear

I know you're an intrepid traveller, where is your most favourite place and why?

It's hard to choose favorites when there is so much left in the world to see. I absolutely love the countryside of Japan, specifically an area called Hakone. And Tokyo is an unbeatable city.

What item can't you travel without?

Curiosity.  Travel doesn't work without it. But I guess you're looking for a more concrete answer. I don't leave home without Melatonin so I can fight jet lag. Or my Blackberry– that thing has more miles on it than anything.

Where in the world do you call home?

I call NYC home, even if I haven't actually had a home there for nearly a year. I've been fairly nomadic, so I have a good selection of hotels that I call home (and they call my home) when I'm in NYC. Home is where the heart is, and luckily I've figured out how to carry that feeling with me wherever I go.

What's your most cherished item?

I have some pretty incredible pieces of art I've collected over the years– some early Takashi Murakami. I also love my watches. But my most cherished items probably are my health and freedom– so I can keep this crazy schedule up.

What would you consider to be your greatest achievement and why?

Figuring out early there was something I am good at, that makes money, and makes me happy– all at once.

If you had to choose a favourite modern day car, which car would it be?

Fisker Karma. Henrik Fisker designed the DB9, and now he's making a DB9 to save the world.

In your opinion which fashion line do you consider to be unrivalled and are there any particular individuals shaping the future of fashion?

I'm at odds with most of my favorite fashion lines right now. I used to be a die hard Yohji fan, and a big buyer of his Y-3 line– but they seem to be having quality issues and just not quite getting it. Dior Homme is a favorite, but they sometimes seem to push into the obscure rather than continue with the modern classics.

I like what Thom Browne is doing and how his pieces are mixing the future with the past– and what he did for Moncler was fantastic.

What's the best shop in the world?

Colette in Paris probably. Although Japan has a couple rivals– one of my favorite for clothing is Edifice and of course United Arrows is a mecca. Dover Street Market in London is classic.

You're famous for spotting the next big thing - what's exciting you most this year so far?

Technologies impact on how we alter behaviors and empower communities of people to share, change, and create a better future. I travelled to Sub-Saharan africa last year with a friend working on a project there and I couldn't believe I had 3G cell service in the middle of nowhere, a thousand miles to the nearest city. That's going to change everything. Everything.

Has there ever been a trend or a craze that has made you cringe?

I wasn't ever so fond of people wearing Crocs in public, despite their comfort and functionality they really should be left in the garden.

Interview with George Bamford

LGB has a large base in the States - tell us about the set up over there, where can we get hold of your products?

Bamford Watch Department has a few dealers in the States, we're in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Hawaii. We also have a service centre in the States and we have just set up our new offices in London as well.

We'd love to know a bit about you, who are your three ultimate style icons, who excites and influences you?

James Dean is one of my style icons, he's so cool without having to try. Terence Young is the man that gave Bond his style; Young was the director of Dr No, the person that made Sean Connery a style icon. On this list I could mention Steve McQueen, a definite style icon, but his name has been trampled on too much by commercialisation. The other person I think is amazing is Cool Hand Luke, also known as Paul Newman. How cool that a certain Rolox Daytona is now in his name. He's an amazing racing guy, a fantastic actor and also has his own food range. Paul Newman is an one of my biggest influences and icon - he really does tick every box.

We've heard you're a massive film lover - if you could be any character in fiction, who would you be and why?

I would love to be Batman, the man in black with the coolest gadget car, not to mention his wonderful day job and those fighting skills. Truly every man wishes he was Batman, to be able to fly but with no other super powers besides those amazing gadgets and his strength to take on the world. He is so cool.

Your favourite film of all time?

Well as I have just blest Batman then I should say Chris Nolan's Batman. There was a time when it would have always been any Bond movie, but the last one put me off all of them. I feel more excited about going to see the new Batman flick much more than Bond 23. I do feel so sad about it, but Batman has definitely taken the role of the coolest action hero along side Jason Bourne.

Where is your ultimate weekend getaway and what would the weekend involve?

Wow, that's a question that's made me think. . . However, I'd have to say Paris on the Eurostar to stay in a very chic and sexy hotel. There's something very sexy about Paris. From shopping at Colette and Finger in the Nose for my son, to dining out and experiencing fine cuisine. The city is just wonderful.

I also love going to Paris as you can avoid those annoying airport delays due to frogs on the line etc etc... As a weekend getaway, Paris is just the place - from London you can be so quickly in the centre of an amazing city.

What are your five must-have items to take with you around the globe?

A good pair of headphones. I love the B&O ones. A good notebook - I like writing down my ideas and I am in love with my moleskin notebook, they alway make me feel special when I write in them. I always have in my bag a picture of my wife and baby in a small old school sliver picture frame. I cannot live without my iPad, I feel as though it can do everything for me, both entertainment and work wrapped up in a neat device. Lastly, a good pair of shades. I am in love with my Hogan's sunglasses at the moment.

Being a watch designer you must have a passion for gadgets - what would you say is the latest and coolest gadget out there?

Well, when you think of gadgets, you now only think of Apple. I love their products but I personalise them as I think personalising products that are made for the mass market is just so much cooler. You can create an individual look for already cool looking products.

What's your favourite watch?

My favourite watch is one of my own personalised watches, a Bamford Watch Department Rolex Daytona Paul Newman dial. This is a truly sexy watch that I've not taken off my wrist, it pays homage to the original but being cased in a modern watch it's from the best of both worlds.

What's your oldest and most treasured item of clothing?

An over coat that was worn by Peter Sellers. It's a black over coat with fur around the collar. It's totally falling to bits but this winter has just gone on and on, I did not want to take it off. I absolutely love it and love to think that it's a truly vintage piece.

Patek Aquanaut 5164A

There is a new Patek Philippe Aquanaut which was launched yesterday, this is a very sexy watch as you can see.

The Aquanaut is known as one of the first watches chosen when buying a new Patek watch. This watch was originally designed by Gerald Genta, the designer behind the Patek Nautilus and Audemar Piguet Royal Oak designs, so this 5164A Aquanaut is in a good group of very successful selling watches.

This 2011 model Aquanaut has a case size increase by .8 mm, not much but on seeing it in the flesh you can see just how this tiny adjustment makes it stand out as a great looking watch.

This 5164A is a travel time watch. This means it has dual time - so when you're travelling you can keep your home time on one hand, which would be on the skeleton hand and the time zone that you are in, which would be on the other hand. There's an indicator on the dial that shows you which time zone is on which hand by the oh-so-cool blue and white squares on the dial.

When we saw it, the Aquanaut was on a rubber strap but we are keeping our figures crossed that they'll release one with a metal strap as we think it would then be even more desirable.

Rolex Explorer 2 for 2011

This was set for release at the 2010 Basel Watch Fair but was pulled in the 23rd hour. I am so pleased that this has happened as it has not been lost among all the other watches that were released last year. This is the New Rolex Explorer II for 2011 and is such a sexy watch. It comes with either a beautiful black dial and the fabulous white dial that you are looking at.

This watch is a step up in both size and dial, the Explorer II has also sized up form a 40 mm watch to a 42mm so a significant increase. The dial has moved to the maxi dial that has Chromalight display that is the luminescence and it's going to last so much longer.

The hands have also changed on the watch; they are harking back to the original explorer II Steve McQueen with that amazing orange 24 hour hand that is just so cool. There is also something cool that I wanted to tell you about was the phantom effect on the 24 hour hand on the black dial Explorer II - this is when they have painted a small part near the pin that's painted black so making the 24 hour hand look like it is floating.

This is a serious watch that you will really be in love with when you get your hands on it.

Rolex Daytona 2011

Rolex Rolex seem to have been on a roll for the last few years creating some stunning pieces; there were also a few not so stunning pieces but they have launched two watches that have taken our eye.

The first is a Daytona Cosmograph that is Ever Rose - their way of saying rose gold.  It has a ceramic looking bezel that is called Cerachrome which is a beautiful black with rose gold dust in the numbers. It is a sexy watch but has divided opions in our office. I love it with the chocolate dial but we did see it with a white/silver dial too. Sorry, I do not have any images but that did not look as sexy anyway!  I would also liked to have seen an Ever Rose bracelet.
This Daytona is one of the shocks of Basel watch fair as this was not what we thought Rolex would be doing. Daytona is a name that stands for the best of Rolex and this watch is definately deserving of the name 'Daytona'.

Brown Safe

We have been looking for the ultimate safe for a while, one that could truly match up and provide the perfect accompaniment to our dream watch the 'Bamford Rolex', a watch we talk about a lot.

I think finally, we've well and truly found the ultimate safe; if Bamford Watch Department designed safes, it would look just like this. This safe comes from California from the most amazing people at Brown Safe. You're probably thinking 'what an odd name' - but if you look past the name and look at just how beautiful these watch safes are, you're guaranteed to forget about all the other safe making companies, these guys do it better.

They offer a wide range of safes but one of our favourite here at Liquid Gold Baby is the 'Chronos' watch safe.  This safe is the perfect balance between old school cool and state of art style.

Brown Safe are one of the leaders in amazing safe design. All they need to do now is design an all black one.

OMG IWC

This is the new IWC Portofino Chronograph with the most amazing Milanese mesh bracelet that I think is just stunning.

IWC as a brand is becoming a big power house and with this new line of watches I think they're set to be one of the big power brokers in the watch world.

The IWC Portofino is a 42mm watch and is water resistant to 30 metres. The watch has IWC caliber 79320 movement, which is already proving to be one of the best movements in the industry.

This IWC Portofino Chronograph is a beautifully stunning watch, the images just don't reveal how sexy this watch actually is. When I got to see one in the flesh, my initial thoughts were OMG, and I'm still thinking the same thing, many days on since SIHH.

When you wear an IWC watch you realise just how much love has gone it to making each and every one. The hint of red at the 30 and 12 is just pure genius, some times the simple things are the best, and believe me, this watch is the best.

Ultimate Valentine Present

This is the ultimate Valentine's present and it's from the guys over at Bamford Watch Department exclusive for Gift Library, an online luxury shop for the best of the best products.

The Rolex Explorer 1 'I Love You' Bamford watch is done in a limited edition of only 5 and sold exclusively through Gift Library, a UK based company. I do not know how they got the exclusive on this amazing Bamford Rolex, but what a coup - they are beautiful.

I have done some digging on Gift Library and discovered that this is a good operation providing the best of the best gifts from around the world at the click of a mouse. Gift Library is the only place you'll find this watch, so unless you want to be in the dog house on Valentine's Day, I'd call them up now and grab one before they sell out.

If you're looking for a new and unique way of saying 'I LOVE YOU', then this is THE present you should have in your hand this Valentine's Day.

Panerai 1950 Bronzo

This is one of the watches that popped out at SIHH in Switzerland, one of the most prestigious watch fairs.

It's a new watch from Panerai, the Panerai 1950 Bronzo. Limited to 1000 pieces the watch's case is made out of bronze, yep, you read right, bronze.

This is a stunning watch that has a natural ageing process to it that makes it look just stunning. The Bronzo watch has a wonderful green dial that compliments the 1950 Panerai so well.

This is a watch with a waiting list and a bit like the top night clubs in the world, if you're name's down you're getting in. If you're name's not on the list - you're not going to be getting one!

Bugatti Tick-Tock

Have you ever wanted to own a Bugatti but like me do not have enough room in your apartment to fit the whole car? Then do not worry, there is a part of the car that you can now own.

You can now own the heart of the hyper car, and the guys over at Origin Times have changed it into an amazing watch winder for 16 of your best watches.

It's a seriously cool thing if you're someone that wants to show your two passions in one big gesture. There are a few things I like about this, the interface with the computer panel, and the idea about this being a car engine keeping the engines going within the watches.

Origin Times is a unique company that pushes the boundary on every watch winder they do, and this is the best example of what they do best.

Amosu Rolex

Alexander Amosu is a man better known for his high end blinged up mobile phones. He brought you one of the most expensive mobile phones in the world followed up by the world's most expensive suit. Amosu has now brought to you the world's most expensive customised steel Rolex Submarine for Nigeria's 50th anniversary.

We thought it would be fun to create the very same watch on the Bamford Watch Department's website. Imagine our surprise to see that Amosu had beaten us there and was using the very same website to create his own souped up Nigerian version.

I can see that Amosu is wanting to jump on a certain bandwagon, however, you would have thought that with his marketing flair and experience he would have least have been creative enough to have produced his own images, especially as he is looking to charge a cool $23,700 for each watch!

You can make your own mind up but if you want to save a few, well actually 1.33million Nigerian Naira ($9,000) then you know where to go!

Panerai 1950

Ok, so all the Panerai's got released earlier this year, but this one slipped through the net. Meet the Luminor Marina 1950 3 days automatic.

I am so pleased that this slipped though my net as I can now bring it to your attention! The dial on this is simply stunning, it harks back to the original Panerai's  of the 50's that accompanied the likes of the Italian Navy on their missions.

It has a 44mm case, which is quite large in size, and if you like Panerai's then no doubt you'll be used to the size. You can go diving in this watch as it is water proof to 30 bar, 300 metres. I think that Panerai's may have had their day as the ultimate fashion item and for this I for one, am happy about as they refuse to pander to the fashion crowd.

If your are a collector this watch should be in your collection and this in my mind it's definitely one that ticks the right boxes.

TAG Heuer Book

TAG Heuer have teamed up with Assouline to bring you a super book.It is the book to celebrate the 150 years of a watch super company that when you read through you realise how great Heuer is and how it has shaped our watch world.

This is a great book that has been written by the amazing Nick Foulkes. He makes you feel apart of the history and take you in the wonderful world of Heuer.

The images are fabulous and real add another depth to the great writing. This is a great book that has such a great team behind it. You will not believe the history of Heuer and then TAG Heuer and how it built it self in to a hyper brand.

Bamford Watch Department

The Bamford Watch Department is The Daddy of all watch customisation houses!

There are a few companies out there blackening Rolexes watches and I could get in to who does what but it's pretty simple, The AMG of the Rolex world is The Bamford Watch Department!

This company has created some beautiful watches from the slick black Deepsea to a Milgauss with stunning honeycomb dial which harks back to the original 1950's Milgauss watch.  The BWD GMT Master II is the watch of choice for Nigo, the founder and owner of Bathing Ape who was written up in my earlier article.

I've been in touch with the BWD to try and find out who they sell to and they said, "our clients are our best kept secret."  These guys are so cool that they have watches on the wrists  of so many great people but wouldn't tell us - I love that.

Take a look at their website and you can customise a number of watches. It's like Nike ID, how cool but this is not the only thing, when chatting to them I found out that this is just tip of the iceberg.  You just need to phone them up and you can run through so many different options to create that unique watch that the other houses don't offer.

So they are at the forefront of developing the best of the best watches for you and I.

Now pricing between these four brands are very similar but taking a quote from JP Morgan, "if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it". That is harsh but if I could buy any one of the brands I would go for the BWD watches. Having started seven years ago they have kept ahead of the competition with constant development and new launches.

If you want to see one in the flesh, head to the uber shops like Colette (Paris) or Dover Street Market (London) to name but a few.

It's obvious that I'm in love with BWD but to take some great words from a great man, "I am easily satisfied with the very best." Winston Churchill.

Candy on a Strap

David Stowe, founder of Vannen (meaning 'friend' in Swedish) Artists Watches is my new crush.

Series 1 is out now collaborating with some awsome artists. This Happy Cream one (pictured) by Buff Monster who is inspired by heavy metal, ice cream and Japanese culture is on my hot list and as you can see he is obsessed with the colour pink.

I hear Chris Bettig is involved in a Christmas exclusive and I can hardly wait to see what Series 2 brings.

Z Shock

This custom watch company are taking regular G Shocks and making them super fly by dripping them in diamonds.

So, the old school-cool watch has a tune up to make it into something new and interesting.

The idea of transforming something not that expensive into something uber expensive is very clever of Z Shock, as they're adding so much value to what is already a great watch and making everyone want one again.

Their watches have been on the arms such people like John legend and LL Cool J to name but a few... It's all over the Rap and R&B community. Prices from about $950 upwards.

IWC has teamed up with the Charles Darwin Foundation to help persevere the Galapagos Island with this Aquatimer Chrono Galapagos Island in rubber, a truly a stunning watch. I saw one a while ago at the fair and felt that the IWC would play around with it and not deliver, but I stand corrected.

I had a closer look at one the other day; the case being covered in rubber is a great touch and stunning the little touch of yellow on the dial is a stroke of genius in color combining. The IWC has created a watch that is impossible to get hold of, to stand up to the likes of Audemars Piguet and Rolex. They have done it with a great design and the use of new material in watch design.

Datejust Rolex Money Maker

The Rolex 31mm Datejust is the money maker for the business.

Here are a few of the offerings from Rolex and as you can see these are not looking into the past as the Submariner or the Explorer, these are looking froward and looking at new and exciting designs.

The 31mm size is great and I think that the rose, gold and steel looks great on women's arms.

As Rolexes go, these types of watches are the "bread and butter" watches.

The New Tag Monaco V4

Introducing the new and the great Tag Heuer Monaco V4, and God this is such a leap forward in technology for the watch world.

Monaco V4 is limited to only 150 units for the platinum version. V4 is a sexy watch with some great science behind it. This is a belt driven watch that came out of car tech, the watch is 39mm/48.9mm, so a great size on the arm.

I think that the only problem with a watch this great is the $94000 price tag, and that for me is a lot of money for a Tag Heuer. Still, with only a few of them in the entire world, they will be hugely sought after. This is a great looking watch set to turn the watch world on its head.

Tudor Rebirth

The Tudor rebirth of the 1970 Monte Carlo, this watch has always been called "the poor man's Paul Newman Rolex". This is what people say, and I think it's about time they stop as this is a great looking watch.

Tudor as a company have alway been in the coat tails of Rolex and I feel that this is them jumping forward and showing us how great they are. Tudors have made something that is going to be a must-have buy. A simply beautiful watch that I can not take my eyes off. Tudor have made something that stands up against every other watch company. This is the thinking man's Daytona.

How clever of Tudor to do a rebirth of what has to be a cult classic, the muted brown colour with the great accents of orange on the dial make you think back to the racing heritage of Tudor. With this watch you know it is going to be a "go anywhere" watch, one to stand out in a crowd, but also be suitable for every day wear.

New Rolex 2010

The new Rolex green bezel and regular Submariner.

This is what I like about Rolex, like Porsche, it does not need to reinvent every year, but upgrades one or two bits and this is exactly what they have done here.

The green and black Sub with date has certainly got that want factor! I saw it on display at Basel and there were so many people that could not take their eyes off them. I have been speaking to my friends at some of the big retailers, they are saying that people have been ordering them the instant the news broke on the internet this morning. So this makes me think that Rolex is doing a fine job at making history for good collectors but also for the future of their business.

We think that this quote best describes what we are doing here at LGB. We are here to not perpetuate the norm on blogs but to be innovative on news. We want to show and to write about travel, cars, movies, architecture and fashion in a different way. This is a place that should be your one-stop for the news on all the luxury items that surround our lives.

We have multiple writers at LGB and they are divided up into three groups:

l@liquidgoldbaby.com This group focuses mainly on travel, cars, movies and architecture. Now, when we say that, we mean that we are looking at new travel destinations or ones that have been forgotten, yet still amazing.

Cars: We are looking at the cutting edge of car technology and also looking at what has shaped them to this point.

Architecture: We are going to be looking at revolutionary design, what has lasted and why it has lasted for so long. We will be looking at designs that take your breath away.

Movies: We are looking at what is coming out, but also jumping back to cult classics. We will show trailers that we like and will write short reviews of the movies that we think you should see.

G@liquidgoldbaby.com This group is all about women and what they really want. It’s going to be your black book, your one and only source; a place you can come to for what’s really moving and shaking in the women’s fashion industry. It will include products that are needed for the busy glamorous life and where to go to get them.

B@liquidgoldbaby.com This group is all about men and the life that surrounds them. We are looking at what is hot, everything from watches to the latest in technology. We will look at what has moved us to where we are today, also looking at trend forecasting to see what and where we think trends will be heading.

We cannot wait to show you our world and would like to leave you on a great quote that we think is our motto here at liquidgoldbaby.com.
